How Lowest Listed works
Exactly the same item
We match products by barcode, the number printed under the bars on the box. Two listings with the same barcode are the same item: same model, size and colour. Names are never enough, because "Black, 128 GB" and "Black, 256 GB" can look almost identical.
Sometimes one store uses a different barcode for the same item. When a person at Lowest Listed has checked both store pages and confirmed they're identical, those prices are shown together and labelled "same item, confirmed by Lowest Listed".
When a page shows no barcode, which happens mostly with marketplace sellers, the extension says so instead of guessing.
Where prices come from
- eBay listings, new condition only, from sellers with a strong rating, including estimated shipping. We leave out listings that are only a box, parts, a bundle or a multi-pack, and any price far from the others.
- Shoppers. People who choose to share send the price on the product page they're looking at. A shopper's price counts once two independent shoppers see it; until then it is listed as "not yet confirmed" and never shown as the lowest price.
Every price shows when it was seen. eBay prices are at most six hours old; shoppers' prices last a week.
No paid placement
Prices are never ranked by who pays. We always show the lowest price we've found for this exact item. During the beta we earn nothing from any store.
Price-drop emails
Watch an item and we check it every six hours. You get one email when the confirmed price drops by at least $1 and 1%, at most once a day per item. Every email has a link to stop.
